Just like a prayer

Yeah. So if you follow me on Twitter (cough, seriously you should be following me on Twitter) you will already know that last night was, like, incredible.

Tones and I hit the Madonna concert at the Air Canada Centre and it was pretty epic. It was the 10th time that I’ve seen Madge in concert over the years (my 3rd time seeing her front row) and for me it will always remain one of her most memorable productions. Yes, she may have called me “cute” at the Re-Invention Tour in 2004, but last night… the true highlight was singing ‘Like A Prayer’ into HER mic!

Watch below… you can see me in all my manic glory (along with Tones) singing into her mic.

Expect non-stop talking about the front row experience to follow.

Interviewing Alexandre Despatie

I made a brief (like blink and you would have missed me brief) appearance at Montreal Fashion Week earlier this week. Fortunately I had a chance to see a few fantastic runway shows (including Denis Gagnon’s incredible s/s 2013 collection) and even sat down for an interview with Canadian Olympic diver (and Gillette spokesperson) Alexandre Despatie.
Of course, he was amazing.

Hola, Barcelona

Recently I had the opportunity to go on a press trip to Barcelona. Hard life, right?

In all of my travels, I’ve never been to Spain, so I definitely tried to soak as much “modernism” as I possibly could during my few short days there. The highlights? Gaudi’s Sagrada Familia and the Parque Guell were awe-inspiring. But… the food! We had the opportunity to eat in some of the most phenomenal restaurants (7 Portes, Bimba’s, Bestial and the Torre de Altamar) and I briefly wanted to turn into one of those tourists who take a snap of absolutely ever morsel that’s put in front of them.
I will return. Hopefully… sooner than later.
A truly amazing experience. I’m very lucky.

Start Up in Ottawa

This summer I was asked to get involved with the Mercedes-Benz Start Up, a national program that provides mentorship and platforms for emerging fashion designers across Canada. I was invited to be a guest judge on the Ottawa panel and travelled to Canada’s capital with a group of industry experts for a few fashionable days.

Ottawa’s semi-final event came to a stylish conclusion on Tuesday August 14th, when it was announced that Caitlin Power and Christopher Bates, would continue on to the final round. In total, eight finalists from across Canada will head to World MasterCard Fashion Week in Toronto this coming October to compete for the Mercedes-Benz Start Up’s grand prize.

Here’s a few of my fave photographs taken at Ottawa’s runway event.

Flying high with Rimowa

Earlier this week I had the pleasure of attending Rimowa’s reception at Billy Bishop Airport in Toronto. Of course the highlight of the one-of-a-kind event was a flight over Mississauga, the Scarborough Bluffs and through the Toronto skyline in a Junkers JU-52 plane from 1939 (The original aircraft was what Rimowa’s signature grooves were modelled after).

A sky-high view of the city. An exceptional dinner inside the hanger that followed. A truly once in a lifetime experience.

Celebrating ’3-years of style’ at the Thompson

Here’s a quick snap of me (wearing my new Philip Sparks blazer) taken by my good friend Juan Carlos at last night’s ’3 Years Of Style’ bash on the rooftop of The Thompson Hotel in Toronto.

3 Years of Style was celebrating the joint 3-year blog anniversaries of The Backseat Stylers, The Souls of My Shoes and Style Blog. 3 fab Canadian fashion blogs written by some fantastic ladies. Congrats!
